Our story
The Monkhouse family opened these doors in July 1993.
Wayne and Helen Monkhouse set up at 135 Fitzroy Street with three children under the age of five and another on the way. Wayne built the first battery racks himself with his mate Alf Hull, while Helen packed the kids into the old FB Holden wagon and drove hot meals down to the shop.
Three of those children work in the business now, and Wayne says he sees five of his grandchildren in the shop most days.
“As a husband and father, I made many sacrifices along the way, and to achieve something like this with them all by my side, I’m beyond grateful.”
1995
The first business in the area accredited to design and install solar systems.

Generations of the same family working behind the same counter on Fitzroy Street.
“Helping many off-grid customers rebuild and set up temporary systems after bushfires destroyed their homes brought myself and those people to tears when they saw how hard we were working to help them.”
